Three Business Critical Tasks You No Longer Have To Do
How to maximise your time and get through your to-do list with less stress ...
When was the last time you felt overwhelmed because of the amount of items on your to-do list? As a business owner, your outstanding tasks are never fully ticked off. There's always more to get done and sometimes your outstanding workload can become overwhelming ...

In turn, this leads to frustration and stress. After all, I'm sure you didn't start your business to be chained to your desk 24/7?
For sure, you'll have to burn the midnight oil on occasions - that's part of the territory. But when the everyday tasks get neglected because you've got so much else on your plate, it's time to take a fresh approach - before you find yourself in a sticky spot.
Remember. You DON'T have to do everything
It can be very hard to let go of tasks - especially if you usually do them yourself. For example:
You may be a control freak and worry that no one else will do the job as well as you.
You may believe you'll save money if you continue to do the task.
You likely don't have the time to explain to someone else how to do the task and feel it's just easier if you do it yourself.
These are all very good excuses, but unfortunately, they're keeping your business small and putting you under unnecessary pressure. That's because there are a variety of business critical tasks that you DO NOT have to do.
And when you outsource and pass the responsibility to a trusted supplier, you'll instantly free up time to work on the things only you can do.
Outsource your travel booking
If you have to travel locally, nationally, or even internationally, it can be time-consuming getting everything organised. So liberate yourself of this task by delegating the arrangement of your travel plans to your virtual PA.
Your PA can make arrangements months in advance, or even last-minute - should you find yourself in a sticky spot. In addition, if you allow your PA to manage your diary on your behalf, you won't have to keep all those important arrangements in your head. Instead, you can relax knowing someone else is busy sorting all the nitty-gritty on your behalf, so you can crack on with your pressing priorities.
Cash flow problems can quickly cripple your business, but if you have a heap of other things to do, the simple act of asking for (and then chasing) the money can get neglected.
So why not get this task off your hands and let your outsourced PA invoice on your behalf? Invoicing is something the Genies do for a number of clients. Simply let us know the work you've completed and for whom and we'll get the invoice out in a timely fashion.
With so many other things occupying your mind, it's easy for late payers to go unnoticed. Just because you've sent the invoice doesn't mean the cash will be freely coming. Every business has to chase money at some time - and this time-consuming task can make some people feel very uncomfortable.
Late payments shouldn't be a source of stress - especially when you've got a dedicated Genie working on your account, chasing outstanding monies and getting payments in. Remember, your customers are more likely to settle if you give them a gentle, timely reminder - so why not let us do your credit control job for you?
"Business administration requires patience, attention to detail and careful organisation to ensure nothing gets overlooked!"
As a creative entrepreneur, this day-to-day drudge is often the least of your priorities - but it's business critical. So why not have a think about making these tasks someone else's responsibility - so you can focus on the work only you can do.
Until next time ...

THE OFFICE GENIE
I had a successful 20-year career as an office manager and personal assistant; however, my job was no longer focused on the customers and became all about the numbers. My customer-focused background began when I was 12 in my father's independent carpet showroom. I had a spell with Marks & Spencer before I moved into office-based jobs. I have worked as a training administrator, a PA and PA/office manager in a variety of industries from manufacturing to the IT education sector.
Meanwhile, my husband Ian, a successful Northampton based Master Decorator and owner of Rainbow Frost, was losing out on work due to missed phone calls. When he was busy, callers were getting his voicemail but weren't leaving messages. I knew how to fix that problem!
I quit my job and took on Ian as the first client of The Office Genie in November 2005. Word quickly spread with the second client coming on board just one week later. The majority of our clients since have come to us through word of mouth recommendations and networking referrals. Over the years, I have become well connected in Northampton and Milton Keynes.
Outside of work I enjoy swimming, roller skating, the theatre and my cats and dogs!
