The mobile phone has become ubiquitous throughout the world, but with more and more road accidents being put down to driver distraction, a virtual assistant might just save your licence and maybe even your life ...

On Wednesday 1st March 2017, the UK Government introduced stringent new punishments for drivers caught using a mobile phone at the wheel. A £200 fine and 6-points for experienced drivers and loss of licence for those who only passed their test in the last two years.

"You could be facing a driving ban if you get caught twice!"

This has all come about because we're just not listening to the police and Government and so they've made the punishments more stringent. Why? Well, did you know that in 2015, 22 people were killed and 99 seriously injured in accidents where a driver was using their phone?

So what can we do? After all, many of us are in business and we need to keep in contact with customers and clients and respond to new enquiries. Even hands-free can be a distraction so here's a simple solution: when driving, leave your phone where you can't even see it (let alone touch it) and have your calls diverted to a magical virtual assistant such as The Office Genie.

It's easy to change your mobile's divert settings from your phone's voicemail to our call handling service, so after a few rings, it's answered by one of the Genies who'll take a message and send you an email to respond to once you've parked up and turned the engine off.

But we can sprinkle some more magic for you by answering questions about your business, products and services, sending out marketing materials directly to enquirers (and grabbing their details for you), even noting down social media interactions and letting you know.

Take a look at this list of activities our clients delegate to us (not just when they're driving):

  1. Updating accounts (invoices, expenses and mileage)

  2. Putting together and sending mailshots

  3. Typing (from longhand and audio files)

  4. Answering your phone & email enquiries

  5. Arranging appointments (with both prospects and clients)

  6. Organising hotels and travel plans

  7. Internet research (competitors, clients and new products)

  8. Updating your CMS (with new contacts from networking)

  9. Building presentations ready for your sales meeting

  10. Organising your email inbox

There are many, many more things you can delegate to us and it really is up to you to decide what you want us to do for you, just once, every time you're driving, or on a regular basis.

Police forces around the United Kingdom have started a crackdown on drivers using mobile phones and in just one week in January, over 3,000 people were handed penalties. Now with the increase in punishments, could your business survive if you got caught? How about if you got caught twice?

So let The Office Genie work our magic for you, whether you're driving, in the office, or in meetings, our virtual assistant services can help your business life run a whole lot smoother, and maybe even save your driving licence for you.

Call us on 01604 529170 or click here to send us an email enquiry, but please ... not when you're driving!

Until next time ...
